“The cooking show is in french is that a problem?”
A partner asked upfront if a French-language project would be a problem. Here is how naming the limit turned into a review process instead.
The question
The message arrived with the question already in it
Before any brief:
The cooking show is in french is that a problem?
Les Aliments Roby, a Québec producer of premium meat and seafood, needed a 15-minute French-language cooking segment edited: a salmon and mango recipe, cooked by two French-speaking chefs, for a piece intended for regional broadcast. Our honest answer, sent the same day:
We are reviewing the link you sent and our French is not advanced, but if you send us the recipe in writing, we can edit the video with your confirmation.
The decision
We did not hide the limit. We turned it into a process.
The recipe came to us in writing, and every cut went back to the partner for confirmation before it was final. What that produced was not a compromise. It was a quality control loop most projects never get: the partner checked our French spelling line by line, catching things like a missing "e" in a slider title, and we corrected them the same way we would take any other note.
What we delivered
Twenty rounds of revision, closed at five stars
A 15-minute French-language cooking segment: colour work, a music bed, ingredient text overlays, built on the partner's own After Effects template. Twenty rounds of revision later, it closed at five stars. A second order followed a week after: a 30-second intro, rebuilt from the same template with a new high-resolution logo and a 4K render for that specific asset.
The lesson
Say the constraint out loud
The lesson is not specific to French. It is what happens when you tell a partner exactly where your limit is, instead of quietly working around it and hoping nobody notices. Say the constraint out loud, and the partner can help you solve it, which is exactly what happened here, one spelling correction at a time.
Where it stands
Still live, still doing its job
The video is still live on the brand's website: evidence that a piece delivered in 2023 is still doing its job today.
The correspondence record runs from May to July 2023 and is our own archive. The review is public. The name and logo use were approved on our side on 4 August 2026, with the brand's own permission to be requested via the website now that the piece is live. The TV channel name and air date are uncorroborated and are not claimed.
What you would get
The same honesty, before anyone talks about money
This partnership began with a limit named out loud, and the work was better for it. The free preliminary audit works the same way: what we would change, what to expect, and a no if the honest answer is no. We do not quote before we have looked. Request yours.
