Some of what you're watching was never filmed. We'll tell you which part, and why.
Four Reels for a bakery's peak season, built from clips that did not cover the menu and could not be reshot. What we filled in, how, and why we say so.
Mère Bakery came to us through a referral: after a Holi Fest collaboration, NOVLIK introduced us, the way happy partners tend to. The brief was four Instagram Reels, built from the brand's own images, footage and instructions, with text animation and their logo worked in, delivered within three days of payment.
The brief
The problem underneath the brief
What arrived was not raw footage. It was clips already cut from previous Reels, some of it low resolution, and none of it covering every category on the menu. The brand could not reshoot. Photos helped, but a Reel built mostly from stills does not move the way a Reel should: too many stills and the whole thing stops feeling like video.
That gap traces back to why the brand came to us in the first place. An earlier editor had not handled advertising content the way it needed to be handled, and the material that reached us carried the marks of that. The brief also landed with real urgency: November is peak season for the brand's home market, and the first Reel needed to be running immediately.
The decision
What we filled in, and how
We used the brand's own photos as reference and generated footage to fill the gaps that could not otherwise be filled, without ever presenting something as filmed that was not. That distinction is worth stating plainly rather than leaving unsaid: the idea, the reference material, and the judgement about what needed covering were ours and the brand's. The tool did the filling-in.
Why we say so
The rule we work to
Our own rule is that the machine does the grunt work so people can think more, not the other way round. The ideas stay human. Most of what we deliver never needs this conversation, because most footage is complete enough not to. This project was not, and pretending otherwise would be a worse choice than explaining the one we made.
The account here is sourced from our own invoice, our WhatsApp archive and the founder's confirmation. No performance figures are used, because none are sourced. The referral is paraphrased, not quoted, since the quote itself waits on permission. Mère Bakery is sent this link, and any correction or takedown is honoured without argument.
